When Jon Bell decided to transition from his office job to pursue a career as a full-time counsellor, he approached me to create his new website and develop a brand identity that would set him on the path to success. This was not just the launch of a new website; it was the beginning of Jon’s journey as a private counsellor in York, offering 1:1 sessions through various formats, including face-to-face meetings, walking therapy, and online/Zoom sessions.

Approach

My first task was to develop a brand identity that would convey Jon’s role as a steadfast source of support. For the logo, I designed a set of abstract waves enclosed within a circle. These waves symbolise the disruptions that individuals face in life, such as anxiety, depression, or grief. Jon, represented by the solid circle, embodies the unwavering support that helps contain these emotions. The colour palette was inspired by Jon’s preferences, drawing from brands he had admired in the past.

It was essential to create a visual identity that not only reflected Jon’s professionalism but also communicated a sense of comfort and trust to his clients with warm and approachable tones.

When it came to the website, we opted for a simple one-page layout. This decision was deliberate, as Jon was at the beginning of his counselling journey. A one-page layout allowed us to present all the essential information concisely and clearly. It also offered a seamless user experience, making it easy for potential clients to access the information they needed.

Project Outcome

The project was met with enthusiastic approval, and since its launch, Jon’s counselling practice has successfully served hundreds of clients. The website and brand identity have not only established Jon as a reliable counsellor but have also created a platform that effectively communicates his message of support and understanding to those in need.
